Our Services

We gather for services on Sundays at 10:00am September through June with occasional services during the summer. The services feature traditional sermons led by a minister, speakers from the community as well as services that are led by members of our congregation. The services are always inspirational, topical, as well as informative.

Welcome new minister Danielle Di Bona!

We are very pleased to formally welcome Danielle Di Bona to Channing Church as our incoming Sunday Minister. We are all very excited about Danielle's significant UU experience and the rich personal and cultural influences that she brings with her to our pulpit this coming year. Danielle received her AB in Religious Studies and Biblical Literature from Smith College, her Masters in Ministry from Ursuline College and performed both her CPE internship and Residency at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. Danielle was ordained at the Unitarian Universalist congregation of Canton Ohio and received final fellowship from the UUA. While she has dedicated her professional life to providing counseling and spiritual care to those suffering loss, grief and bereavement, she has also been an interim and consulting minister for several local congregations. Danielle currently serves as Chaplain of the Hospice and Palliative Care of Cape Cod in Hyannis MA. Her experience in Unitarian Universalist Ministry spans 25 years. A recipient of the Mel Hoover "Beloved Community" award, Danielle served as President of DRUUMM and continues to be an active participant in DRUUMM, the General Assembly, and was elected in 2011 to serve on the UUA Nominating Committee.

Danielle has a passion for sharing Unitarian Universalist philosophy, supporting small churches to strengthen and reinforcetheir mission, and working closely with the religious education committee to nurture and encourage children for active participation in the church and community.

Along with a very active ministerial, spiritual and family life, Danielle dedicates much of her free time to her two beautiful dogs, Aldas Hildegaard (Hungarian Pumi) and Spenser Chagall (soft coated Wheaten Terrier). She is an experienced show dog trainer and handler. She shares her love of dogs with her twin sister, Michelle Calabro who cares for Petunia Mae, a rescue dog from Puerto Rico. Both are long time residents to the South Shore.

We look forward to kicking off our new congregational year on September 9th, 2012 with Danielle leading the annual Water Communion service. Please join us in welcoming Danielle to Channing Church!

Channing Church Affirmation

Love is the doctrine of this church
The quest for truth is its sacrament
And service is its prayer.
To dwell together in peace;
To seek knowledge in Freedom;
To serve humanity in fellowship;
To the end that all souls shall grow
Into harmony with the divine.
Thus do we covenant with each other
And with God.
